Owners Jason and Valerie Bandstra began this journey with a vision—to turn a simple barn into a welcoming venue for gatherings of all kinds. After the Bandstra family added a picturesque pond to their farm near Tassel Ridge Winery, they wondered about what to do with the large open barn that was once home to their cows. They decided to renovate it into a modern, yet rustic, event space that is steps away from the pond with sweeping views of the Iowa countryside.

BackRoads Retreat is a dynamic and interactive event space that is perfect for any type of gathering, from intimate family parties, friends' get togethers, or spiritual and wellness retreats, to unforgettable wedding ceremonies and receptions.​
Overlooking a scenic pond complete with a fountain, BackRoads Retreat offers a stunning backdrop of the countryside and accommodates up to 272 guests. Our venue is available for rent at $145 per hour, with a minimum of four hours.
